The joyous celebration of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade took a tragic turn as one person died and 21 were injured in a shooting near Union Station.

The incident occurred at the conclusion of the parade, casting a somber shadow over the event.

Officials reported treating eight victims in immediately life-threatening condition, with an additional seven sustaining injuries that could prove life-threatening.

Shockingly, nine children were among the wounded, highlighting the devastating impact of the shooting.

The gunfire erupted west of Union Station, where thousands of fans had gathered for the parade.

Despite the presence of over 800 police officers monitoring the event, chaos ensued as the shots rang out.

The city’s mayor, Quinton Lucas, and his family were among those forced to run for cover.

Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves revealed that three suspects were arrested in connection to the shooting.

A law enforcement source indicated that the incident appeared to stem from an argument that turned violent, ruling out terrorism as a motive.

During a news conference, Chief Graves stated that a total of 22 people were struck by gunfire, with one fatality.

The surviving victims were promptly transported to local hospitals, with nine children receiving treatment at Children’s Mercy hospital.

Kansas City Chiefs players, coaches, and staff, along with their families, were confirmed safe by the team. In a statement, the Chiefs expressed deep sadness over the senseless act of violence that marred the celebration of their Super Bowl win.
